A top price of $11,000 and an overall average of $5750 were the highlights of the Cootharaba Hereford 90th birthday sale at Duarran near Roma on Tuesday.
Mindful of the prolonged dry weather throughout Queensland, stud principals Ian and Anne Galloway were delighted with the fact all buyers were repeat clients of longstanding.
Topping the sale draft was the 20-month-old Cootharaba Woolloomooloo, a son of Centennial Fire Storm, from the reputable Cootharaba Pauline female family, who was bought by Warwick and Kel Freeman, Meeleebee Downs, Wallumbilla.
Woolloomooloo entered the sale ring with a weight of 784kg and EMA of 116sq cm and impressive fat scans.
“He is a every good bull in every way, and we will use in over our Hereford breeders,” Mr Freeman said.
The Freeman’s also paid $6000 for another son of Centennial Fire, Cootharaba Walhalla.
Next at $9500 was Cootharaba Windermere, a son of Glendan Park Empire bought by Rod Turner, Landmark, Roma for Dean and Tanya Carseldine, JDC Holdings Theodore.
Mr Turner also paid to $9000 Cootharaba Xotic for the same clients.
Both bulls will be used in the Carseldine’s bullock breeding program.
Volume buyers were the York family, Southleigh, Wallumbilla who finished with five bulls to average $4600.
Selling agents were Elders and Landmark, Roma.
