NEGOTIATIONS are continuing on the Charters Towers breeder property Pallamana Station was passed in for $4.3 million at a Ray White Rural auction in Townsville today.
Located 97km from Charters Towers on the Harvest Home Road, the property was offered with 600 Brahman and Brahman-cross breeders.
Pallamana covers 27,600 hecatares (68,200 acres) comprising of about 25,500ha of grazing country, 1930ha mine lease, and 170ha of station curtilage.
Soils range from dark grey loams to fertile black soil flats and channels, with red and grey ridges interspersed throughout the property.
The timber is a mix of blackwood, brigalow, box, lancewood, bloodwood, ironbark, gum, gidyea and wattle.
Established grasses and stylos include verano, seca, Indian couch, white and black spear grass, areas of buffel, urochloa and many palatable species of natural grasses.
The property is divided into 16 large breeder paddocks plus multiple holding paddocks and holding squares. A large percentage of the boundary has been renewed over the last five years, with most of the laneway fencing less than 10 years old.
The property is well watered with 17 open dams and a share dam with a solar pump supplying numerous tanks and troughs. The average annual rainfall is 600mm.
Improvements include a homestead set in established surrounds, machinery sheds and a workshop area, two cottages, and single man’s quarters. There is also a hay shed and aircraft hangar.
