A total of 570 head were yarded at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. The market for export, trade and feeder cattle was easier, while the weaners and younger cattle held up well on the back of buyers looking to restock.
Laureen Kirwin, Gatton, sold a Brahman bull for $1860. Graeme and Caroline Becker, Ropeley, sold the top cow for $1310. Shane Schultz, Blenheim, sold Charolais store cows for $980. Maurice Harrington, sold milk tooth Droughtmaster steers for $1190 and heifers for $1000-$1225.
Nathan Colley, Witta, sold lines of 2 tooth Droughtmaster heifers for $920 and lines of Droughtmaster heifers for $800-$830. Ian Lindemeyer, Mt Sylvia, sold 2 tooth Charolais steers for $1250. The Olm Family, Ropeley, sold 10 month old weaners, with steers making $950 and heifers $850.
Kevin and Anne Utz, Coominya, sold a line of Simmental cross weaner steers, 6-8 months, for $805. Bruce Greer, Flagstone Creek, sold a line of 6-8 month old Brangus calves for $850. Terry and Lynn Krisanski, Coominya, sold a line of Brahman weaner steers for $770.
