The seventh annual Australian Livestock Markets Association (ALMA) National Saleyards Expo came to a close on Thursday night with members and sponsors enjoying a great night of top food, drinks and great conversation at The Sterling in Rockhampton.
During the night newly elected ALMA president Ken Timms, Blackall, congratulated outgoing president Steve Loane on the great job he’s done in his six years in the role, and the work he’s carried out to develop and amalgamate ALMA under at times “trying conditions”.
The second ALMA Animal Welfare award winner was also announced on the night with Mt Barker Saleyards in Western Australia, receiving recognition for the extra mile the staff have gone to ensure good outcomes for the livestock at the yards, including the appointment of an animal inspector to ensure welfare standards are being met and exceeded.
A full report from the 2017 National Saleyards Expo will appear across all Fairfax agricultural mastheads in the August 10 editions.
