YOU know you have made a significant difference in a small town when they give you the water from their river.
Brisbane artists Joel Fergie and Travis Vinson were given bottles filled with water from the Moonie River as the closest thing to the ‘keys to the city’ of Thallon after completing Queensland’s first silos artwork in the small town.
Two years after a discussion with a few members of Thallon, their dreams of painting the town’s giant silos were finally brought to life and the artwork, titled The Watering Hole, was officially launched at a special ceremony today.
About 150 people gathered at the local sports grounds across from the silos as the ribbon was cut and guests were invited onto the viewing platform.
School children who presented the artists with their new souvenir said, “As legend has it (the Moonie River water) will always make you return”.
Members of the community couldn’t thank the pair enough for the gift they had given their town.
