The youngest and first into the ring, Smith Family Valentine, a 14-month-old Conman led filly out of the Warrenbri Romeo mare in Knights Rachel and offered by Heidi Smith, Smith Family Stock Horses, Glenogan, Dungowan New South Wales, sold for $30,000.

She was bought by Mitchell Young, Creswood Stock Horses, Riley’s Run, Bauhinia Downs.

“Her breeding was right and she has a good front and rein, and we will grow her out, break-in and eventually campaign her when ready,” Mr Young said.

Shortly after, the slightly older Conman filly, Clearchoice Contiki, offered by Phillip and Gloria McCormack, Clearchoice Stock Horses, Ben Lomond, NSW went one bid better to sell for the $31,000 Landmark Supreme record yearling price.

The outstanding filly was from the well-performed mare Clearchoice Roma Ria which has won 13 drafts including six opens and was knocked down to well-known trainer, Rob Leach, Rob Leach Equine, Tamworth NSW who was operating on behalf of Geoffrey Porges, J and G Pastoral Company Pty Ltd, Shamrock Hill, Orange, NSW.

Mr Leach said the filly was “an absolute standout” and he would train, educate and eventually draft the youngster.

Topping the ridden section at $27,000 was the young, lightly competed Acres Destiny mare, Crystal Acres offered by Hugh Miles, Hugh Miles Breeding and Performance Horses, Tamworth NSW which was bought by Landmark Roma manager Andrew Holt for Yasmin Vidler, Thistledoo, Roma.

Mr Holt said his client intended to draft the outstanding mare.

Andrew Holt, Landmark, Roma bid the $27,000 top ridden mare price for Crystal Acres from Hugh Miles, Hugh Miles Performance Horses, Tamworth as Simon Booth, Landmark, Toowoomba admires the outstanding mare.

Mr Miles said Crystal Acres was one of the last crop of Acres Destiny and was good-minded and had plenty of work and is ready to go and compete.

Landmark Supreme Toowoomba Horse Sale co-ordinator Simon Booth said the improvements in the overall quality of the catalogue, increased incentives and the expanded program which introduced two new drafts were some of the key drivers behind the success of their sale.

“Quality horses with performance and backed by a proven pedigree made their full value,” said Mr Booth.

Included in the sale breakdown were 106 led yearlings which averaged a solid $5167 and 87 ridden horses for a creditable $8233 average.

It seemed the first horse out of the blocks set the pace in the ridden section on Sunday after Rathcool Wolverine attracted the $19,000 equal record gelding money which was offered by Ben and Hayley Hutton, Waratah, Clermont.

The very athletic Acres Destiny/Rathcool Janine gelding was purchased by John and Polly Southern of Dirranbandi.

Also making similar money was the powerfully built My T Cat by Intricatolena from the performance-bred mare Starbar Fortynine offered by Greg and Andrea Lithgow of Chinchilla and was bought by Macaroni Contracting of Cloncurry.

On the back of the strong market for competitive geldings Ross Wolski and Jackie Jewell, Glenwood Stock Horses, Chinchilla sold two superbly presented quality geldings late in the catalogue for the top gelding average of $14,250.
