MARLBOROUGH was the first show of the Central Queensland circuit, and with 151 head entered in the stud section, it was a strong way to kick it off.
Taking out the Supreme Champion Bull was Raglan Brahmans’ Raglan Mr Mason.
Aimee Olive, Raglan, said Mr Mason’s win was not only good for their stud, but the breed as well.
“He’s good, meaty, well-boned, well-structured bull,” she said.
“He’s by one of our own bulls which also got supreme at this show, and Mr Mason will go back through our herd.”
The Olives had seven head and a calf at Marlborough, and will next be competing at the Monto Brahman Feature Show on Saturday.
Taking out the females was Kenrol Lady Kayla, who earned great feedback from judges Aleisha Finger and James Pisaturo.
They said Lady Kayla displayed fantastic breed characteristics, and was an all-around fantastic entry.
Also taking home a win in the stud section was Oaklands Smooth Operator.
Owned by Nev and Megan Hansen, Oaklands Brangus, Kapala, and led by their son Grady, Smooth Operator took out the interbreed champion before coming in a close second to Mr Mason.
Mr Hansen said the 28-month-old bull was a heavy bull who carried himself well.
“He’s got a lot of meat on him, and he’s very, very quiet, a tonne of meat on him, great length,” he said.
In the working horse class it was Ben Parker on Boon N Jewel who took home the juvenile first place, with Henry Gray on Sophie Catt in second.
Ben Parker also took home the first in the maiden, with Karin Howard on Dark Intentions and Jo Geddes on Rio coming in second and third respectively.
In the snaffle bit and challenge draft Gayle Parker on Christmas Spin took out the first in the juniors, with Sarah McTaggort on Trapeeze in second, and Ainsling Moffat in third.
Ben Parker again came in first in the juvenile draft on Boon and Jewel, with Henry Gray on Sophie Catt in second.
