Feeder steers sold to a top of 337c while weaner steers also held firm at 382c at the April 20 Biggenden prime and store cattle sale.

A total of 1136 head of cattle were yarded at the Burnett Livestock & Realty’s Biggenden meatworks and store sale on April 20. 

There were limited bullocks yarded therefore not enough results to quote. Cows over 500kg topped at 258c; cows 400kg - 500kg topped at 239c.  Trade heifers over 400kg topped at 310c. John and Veronica Wood, Bucca sold Droughtmaster bullocks for 300c/$1934. 

Ron Kirk and family, Gayndah sold grey Brahman cows for 253c/$1452.  Capricorn Estates, Mt Joseph sold Droughtmaster cows for 254c/$1397.  Wieland Farms, Gin Gin sold Droughtmaster cows for 251c/$1538. 

Feeder steers 400kg to 500kg sold to a top of 337c while steers 300kg to 400kg sold to 355c. Steers 200kg to 300kg sold to 382c. Milk and two tooth Santa steers from Monto sold for 337c/$1466.  BJ&LJ Williamson, Gin Gin sold milk tooth Droughtmaster Charolais steers for 355c/$1355.  June McCotter, Mt Perry sold Santa weaner steers for 382c/$905.  RE Reynolds, Bundaberg sold Angus weaner steers for 374c/$949.  John Booth, Monduran sold Charbray weaner steers for 380c/$971.

Heifers 300kg to 400kg sold to a top of 336c. Heifers 200kg to 300kg topped at 336c. BE&AM Gossner, Monduran sold milk tooth Angus heifers for 322c/$1043.  3D Farms, Bundaberg sold milk tooth Santa heifers for 336c/$1129. NS&I Baldwin, Pine Creek sold Santa weaner heifers for 336c/$821.  AW Beddows, Windera sold milk tooth Simbrah weaner heifers for 329c/$773. P&N Warren, Booyal sold light Brangus weaner heifers for 380c/$617. 

Cattle were drawn from Monto, Sexton, Tansey, Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Mt Perry, Gayndah, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Childers, Bundaberg, Waterloo, Bucca, Rosedale, Lowmead, Miriam Vale, Gin Gin, Booyal and all local areas.

The next Biggenden meatworks and store sale is Monday, May 1 (Labour Day public holiday) and the All Breeds Weaner Sale is on Thursday, May 4.
