This year will see the celebration of a milestone in Bundaberg as Agrotrend hits 40 years and organisers are pleased with how the event – which is taking place on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct – is progressing.
Agrotrend event manager Ainsley Gatley said Agrotrend bases it’s foundation on celebrating all things agricultural and this year will see many agricultural based businesses returning to the event.
“The Bundaberg region is home to a large and productive region of southern Queensland,” Ms Gatley said.
“The primary economic driver of the commercial hubs of Bundaberg, Childers and Gin Gin is agriculture and horticulture making Agrotrend Bundaberg the ideal location for a field day event,” she said.
“Last year we had a 30 per cent increase in exhibitors and this year is already shaping up well with new and returning exhibitors securing their site.
“It’s great to have three tractor companies back on board and the focus back on agricultural is attracting these exhibitors.”
There is a great range of activities on show for the public to enjoy including the new Can-am ATV Trial Track, the Australian Alpaca Show, Working Cattle Dog Displays, Bundaberg Poultry Show, Bundaberg Yesteryear Machinery Old Tractor Pull Vintage and Veteran Vehicle Displays and the Agrotrend Strongman and Tractor Pull.
The second Bundaberg Barbecue Battle welcomes a record 30 teams to battle it out in five categories including: Beef, pork ribs, lamb, chicken and chef’s choice. And a record 30 judges will discover the art of eating a lot of meat! Walk through the competition and watch the teams as they take this Barbecuing very seriously. With teams from Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia things will certainly heat up on this battle ground!
This competition will be an official qualifying round of the 2017 Barbeques Galore Australian Barbecue Championships and points scored in eligible categories will contribute towards the Championship and 2016 Leaderboard.
Ms Gatley said industry presentations will be held throughout the event and industry representatives interested in presenting for 15 to 20 minutes are invited to contact her.
“We are excited to see how the event is coming together. Exhibitors from Bundaberg, throughout Queensland and NSW come together for this event.
“For us it was about engaging with the agricultural industry and now we partner with both Bundaberg Canegrowers and Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers to ensure we are meeting the industry needs.
“It’s a milestone to be celebrating 40 years.”
