DISASTER assistance has been announced for eight local government areas affected by Cyclone Debbie.
Counter-disaster operations assistance will be made available to the eight local government areas: Burdekin, Charters Towers, Isaac, Hinchinbrook, Mackay, Palm Island, Townsville and Whitsunday.
The assistance is being provided through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) and was announced by federal justice minister Michael Keenan and Queensland emergency services minister Mark Ryan today.
More support would be activated for affected communities as the full impacts of the tropical cyclone became evident.
