CQ graziers recently got hands on at herd efficiency workshops with leading veterinarian Dr Ian Braithwaite.
Dr Braithwaite said graziers at Fitzroy Basin Association Inc.’s (FBA) workshops practiced their pregnancy testing skills and learned how to identify herd performance for peak profitability in their business.
“If we can have better grass on the ground it will equal a better body condition score of livestock giving us increased number of pregnancies,” Dr Braithwaite said.
This will lead to increased cash flow and improved profitability,” he said.
Local grazier Steve Farmer said the opportunity allowed him to “continue to grow my management and practical skill sets”.
The herd efficiency workshops were supported by FBA through the Save our Soils project. They are funded by the Australian Government and delivered through the Reef Trust, in collaboration with the Queensland Government.
