A reduced yarding of 2570 head were penned at Gracemere sale on February 17 comprising of 1140 steers, 1007 heifers, 403 cows, 26 cows and calves and 51 bulls.
Cattle were mostly in good condition despite dry conditions in some areas and were drawn from local areas with some lines from Theodore, Bauhinia Downs and Collinsville.
A good field of buyers were present and competition was solid for most descriptions and values reflected the quality of cattle on offer.
Slaughter steers topped 320c to average 275.5c, steers 400-500kg hit 328.2c to average 304.2, steers 300-400kg made 366.2c to average 318.4c, steers 200-300kg sold to 418.2c to average 361.1c. Steers under 200kg made 434c to average 385c.
Heavy heifers topped 312c to average 293c, heifers 300-400kg sold to 316c to average 289c, heifers 200-300kg made 338c to average 299c. Meanwhile heifers under 200kg topped 378c to average 337c.
