Numbers lifted by 15 per cent, with 4271 cattle yarded at Dalby this week. Overall quality was fairly good, with a large consignment of full mouthed bullocks from the far western corner of the state included in the line-up.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed held firm while heavy weights to feed improved by up to 6c/kg. Top end quality medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to strong demand, however secondary lines were cheaper.
A better quality line-up of heavy grown steers to export slaughter improved in price, however bullocks averaged 5c/kg cheaper. Plain conditioned cows sold to a firm market while good heavy cows averaged 2c/kg cheaper.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed made from 335c to 371.2c and averaged 353.6c/kg. Heavy weights were up 6c reaching an average of 335.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed were better by 8c and sold from 334.2c to 346.2c to average 341.9c/kg.
Grown steers to feed made from 278.2c to 286.2c, back 3c to average 280.9c/kg. Medium weight heifers sold from 253.2c to 270c and averaged 264.9c/kg, the best made 281.2c/kg. Medium weight cows to processors were better by 6c making from 210c to 226.2c with heavies selling from 236.2c to 243.2c to average 238.9c/kg. The best bulls made 314.2c/kg.
