The York family from Billa Park Simmental Stud will again conduct a Simmental Bull Sale in conjunction with the fourth annual Clermont Beef Expo being held at the Clermont Showgrounds on Wednesday, October 26.
Billa Park along with invited vendor, Lucrana Simmentals have put together a draft of 18 bulls this year – 10 from Billa Park and eight from Lucrana – which will go under the hammer from 4pm.
Billa Park’s Scott York said the previous sales have enabled the studs northern clients to access their genetics without needing to travel, and at affordable prices.
“It has been pleasing to see many of our bulls enter into commercial herds that have been buying our genetics for years,” he said.
“The drought three years ago really cut into our bull number for this year, so to ensure that we could conduct a sale, we invited the Moore Family with their Lucrana Simmentals to assist us with numbers,” he said.
Sale agent John Wilkinson from Hoch & Wilkinson, said the Billa Park draft is heavily influenced by the high performing sire, Billa Park Poll Churchill.
“He’s well-known for producing high standard bulls with softness and muscling,” he said.
All bulls will be weighed and scanned prior to sale and have been vaccinated with 3 germ, Tick fever, 3 day and 5 in 1. A rebate to outside agents introducing purchasers will also be offered.
The expo highlights the quality and the significance of the local beef industry, and incorporates the cattle sale, trade display, bull sale and a forum.
There will be 14 classes for exhibitors to enter, split between prime and store sections with $1000 awarded to the winner in each class.
Winners of the Champion Pen of Prime Cattle and Champion Pen of Store Cattle will receive $1500, and the winner of The Sally Taylor Memorial Perpetual Trophy, for the Supreme Champion Beast from nominated pens will also receive $1500.
The most prestigious award is granted to the Grand Champion Exhibit of the Beef Expo, and attracts $5,000 in prize money.
Hoch & Wilkinson will also donate an additional $500 to a charity of choice for each winner in each class.
This years special guest speaker at the forum is Tom O'Toole who resides at the helm of the immensely successful Beechworth Bakery.
Mr O’Toole will take the stage to give a thought provoking presentation on customer service, leadership and the power of sharing knowledge and ideas.
The Clermont Beef Expo provides a great opportunity to connect with other producers to ensure that Clermont's beef and cattle industry, it's people and it's product remain viable and at the forefront of Australian agricultural excellence.
