STRONG interest is being reported in the significant North Queensland properties Inkerman Station and Woonton Vale, which will be auctioned by Landmark Harcourts on October 12.
Inkerman is located in the heart of the Burdekin, 15km south of Home Hill and 110km south east of Townsville. The 16,665 hectare (41,180 acre) property comprises of 15 freehold titles plus a leasehold area.
Inkerman is being offered as a going concern, on a walk in walk out basis with 2000 females and an extensive working plant. The herd has a Brahman and Droughtmaster nucleus. The estimated carrying capacity is 3500 breeders plus replacements
Improvements include a homestead, cottage, quarters, two sets of yards, and numerous service, machinery and hay sheds. There are 14 main and numerous holding paddocks. Most main have a holding square connected to the extensive lane system. Water is sourced from 11 bores, 10 dams, two lagoons and numerous permanent and seasonal holes.
The darker soils on Inkerman are described as farming quality and directly neighbour existing commercial farming areas. To date more than 4000ha has been cleared or treated. About 850ha has been blade ploughed.
Marketing agent Ray Taylor, Landmark Harcourts, said the capital improvements on Inkerman were part of a strategic plan to ensure ease of management and security of livestock, pasture and water.
"Inkerman is a well renowned property that has only been offered for purchase twice in the last 80 years,” Mr Taylor said. “It is well developed as a cattle operation and has had the initial preparation to the farming compatible areas, that is cleared with parts blade ploughed. Simply, it is a strong performing property, ideally located with an abundance of potential upside - features hard to find individually and very available in combination."
Wooton Vale is in the Bowen Basin Cattle, located 53km south of Home Hill and 55km north of Bowen.
The 18,039ha (44,556 acre) property is estimated to carry 2500 breeders plus replacement when being solely operated as a calf factory. It is being offered with 2000 females and an extensive working plant. This herd has a strong base of Brangus bloodlines. Controlled mating is in place and the bulls are currently out of the herd. The bulls will be included in the sale. Weaning has just been completed.
Wooton Vale has a 14km of frontage country running into a mix of softer and undulating areas. It is timbered with bloodwood, box and iron bark. There are native grasses and introduced stylo’s are prolific with areas of marine couch in coastal areas.
Improvements include two houses, quarters, machinery and storage sheds, three sets of cattle yards, 16 main paddocks and a series of smaller and holding paddocks. There are 36 watering points.
Woonton Vale is described as a well situated and a well-developed, large scale cattle station carrying a good stand of grass and stylos. It is being offered to the market for only the second time in over 70 years. The Bruce Highway dissects the property providing access is all weather.
The 2000 females offered in the sale range from weaners to cows. The herd has a strong base of Brangus
Woonton Vale is a mixture of freehold and leasehold title with some of the smaller freehold areas directly neighbouring the existing commercial small crop farms of the Gumlu/Gutherlungra farming district.
