IAN and Anne Galloway’s 30-month-old sire Cootharaba Vauclause (Glendon Park Empire E002/Cootharaba Fancy E235) has taken top honours at the Ekka, named the supreme champion Hereford bull.
The grandson of Cootharaba Magnum, was the Galloway’s sole entry in the Hereford ring, where more than 60 cattle were on show for judge John Laurie, Walcha, and his associate Kate Shooter, Bellevue, Allora.
Vauclause only came out of the cows in March before his first show outing in Roma in May.
Reserve senior bull was well constructed Welray Kingfisher (Tondara C141 Blue Blood G007/Welray Shirley 20) exhibited by the Weelray Partnership, Nabiac, NSW.
Ben Crowley, exhibited the junior champion bull Tycolah Octagonal (Tycolah Lynwood H184/Wararba Park Charm G163), the winner of the eight to 12 months class. Ben’s father Steve Crowley’s Tycolah Oakwood (Tycolah Lynwood/TycolahTessies Favorite) was named reserve. The poll won the 14-16 months class.
In the females, the senior champion Thornleigh 232 Constance H186 (Mawarra Vice Admiral/Thornleigh S106 Constance B263) was also also named the grand champion for the Monie family, Thornleigh Herefords, Inverell, NSW. The impressive 30-48 months class winner also had the impressive six month old bull calf Thornleigh Maxwell at foot.
The junior champion female was the 12-14 months class winner Talis Twilight L992 (Karina Cherry/Talis Twilight H951). The well grown heifer was exhibited by the McLachlan Group from Bowral, NSW.
Reserve senior champion was Jindalee Miss Minerva K009 (Smithston Mighty Mac M033/Jindalee Miss Minerva D018). The Vivers family, Inverell, also exhibited the reserve junior female Jindalee Minerva L031 (Smithston Full Monte/Jindalee Minerva E030).
