Highly regarded livestock agent Mike Wheeler has sold his business, Mike Wheeler Livestock & Property based in Woodford.
Mike forged his lengthy agency career with then pastoral house Primac in 1981 in Dalby.
He held positions in Taroom, the stud stock department, followed by a stint in Murgon, before being appointed state livestock manager in Brisbane.
In 1992 Mike joined the private agency ranks with the purchase of the Woodford Saleyards then owned by Doug Nichols & Co.
In 2009 he added Eumundi Saleyards to his stable, leasing the facility from the Boxsell and Murtagh families of Kenilworth.
“Woodford and Eumundi saleyards have been strong performers over many years with auction numbers exceeding 30,000 annually,” Mike said
“Woodford is an outstanding yearling vealer and calf market.”
In the carve-up of his business David Stariha of Stariha Auctions, Laidley has acquired the livestock arm of Mike Wheeler Livestock & Property and will continue to operate both Eumundi & Woodford.
Meanwhile long-term employee Garry Brown who has worked for 20 years with Mike Wheeler Livestock & Property, has acquired the real estate arm of the business. Garry will continue to operate out of the same premises.
“It has been a fantastic ride, but it’s time for a new challenge in my life and I hope to use my skill set in the future” Mike said.
