Three LNP candidates have sought pre-selection in the forthcoming by-election for the seat of Toowoomba South.
The by-election follows the succcessful selection of the current member, Dr John McVeigh winning LNP pre-selection for the federal seat of Groom.
Dr McVeigh will officially resign from representing the constituents of Toowoomba South this Friday.
Those nominated include Heritage Bank head of banking David Janetski. Mr Janetski previous ran for pre-selection for Toowooba South, in a failed bid again Dr McVeigh in 2011.
As well, Toowoomba Regional Council’s, Cr Nancy Sommerfield, who attracted the second highest number of votes at the recent local government elections, has declared her nomination.
Also nominated is Sam Wright, Ambrosiussen Accountants and Advisors, Toowoomba.
Pre-selection is an LNP internal process so no candidates are available to comment. Premier Palaszczuk has not named the date of the by-election, and the succesful candicate is expected to be announced on Saturday.
