NEGOTIATIONS are continuing on Sue and Gibb Muller’s high rainfall Injune breeding property Kia Ora which was passed in for $1.6 million at an auction in Roma today (Thursday).
Marketing agent Darryl Langton, Landmark Harcourts, said bidding opened at $800,000 before being passed in at the higher figure $1.6m.
“Negotiations for the property and the herd of quality cattle are progressing well,” Mr Langton said.
The property is located 23km north of Injune and has 1812-hectares of freehold country and 1837ha leasehold country.
The Muller family has undertaken an extensive development program since buying the property from Ray Holmes in 2004. The program features pasture and timber development, water, fencing and improvements to infrastructure.
The buyer of Kia Ora will hold first option to purchase the entire herd of quality Charbray cattle running on the property.
The country is described as improved forest loams with areas of heavier soils originally timbered by box, ironbark, and pine. The freehold country has been fully developed and 920ha has been ploughed with a cutterbar.
Buffel, eurochola, green panic, Rhodes and silk pastures are well established over the property and compliment native, black and white spear, blue and summer grasses. The forest country is timbered pine, ironbark with softer flats growing a mix of native and improved grasses.
There are three bores pumping to nests, tanks and troughs as well as 13 dams. Other improvements include a three bedroom homestead, aircraft hangar, storage cottage, butcher shop with cold room, workshop/machinery shed and steel cattle yards serviced by a central laneway.
