THOSE who did not know the theme beforehand would have picked up on the Hawaiian theme at Cloncurry’s Schumacher Park on Saturday.
The first race meet of the year had numerous Hawaiian shirts, drinks decorated with those cute little umbrellas, and floral dresses.
Chelsea Salisbury claimed the women’s fashions on the field. The highlight was the large red flower designed millinery she designed herself.
Dr Bryan Connor won the men’s fashions on the field. Even among the line-up of Hawaiian shirts his bright red and orange shirt with traces of green and yellow stood out.
Best dressed girl was Bronte Ashe, and best dressed boy was Vin Rix.
There was one entry in the novelty event. Tim McClymont wore a bra over a respectful blue coloured shirt. He was told by his cousin that the dress code was cross dress but when he learned it was an April Fools prank Mr McClymont put the grass skirt and wig away.
