Tyson Golder has extended his lead in the Maranoa Mayoral race. Mr Golder now holds 58 per cent of the vote (3094 votes) ahead of sitting mayor, Robert Loughnan who holds 42 per cent (2198).
41 per cent of votes have now been counted.
Roma businessman, Tyson Golder is ahead in the Maranoa Regional Council Mayoral race.
Sitting Mayor Robert Loughnan is holding 750 votes while his challenger, local businessman Tyson Golder has 1050 votes.
With 8762 electors in the Maranoa Regional Council area it’s still early days but the result would be concerning for the sitting mayor.
Bymount beef producer, Robert Loughnan has served local government for 18 years. He was the Mayor of the former Bungil Shire Council for eight years before being elected as the first Mayor of Maranoa Regional Council.
Mr Golder and his family own and operate the chain of Golders retail stores across southwest Queensland.
