OLDER Brangus bulls sold to an appreciative buying gallery at CQLX Gracemere last week when the Central Brangus Classic topped at $28,000 and averaged $5976 for 43 registered sires.
Long-time Brangus breeder, Lawson Geddes, Couti-Outi Brangus, Kunwarara, watched Couti-Outi Redford sell to Jarrod and Leanne Deguara, Bimbora Brangus, Nebo, for the sale-topping price of $28,000.
Couti-Outi Brangus were paid $14,500 for another older bull, the 32 month old, Couti-Outi Roast Beef, a tasty prospect indeed for the Calliope based, Neill family.
Bill and Margo Fordyce, Mabbin, Clermont, paid $14,000 for the 960kg, 33 month old, Bonox 600, a scurred, registered bull offered by Bruce and Leanne Woodard, Taroom.
The same buyers took home Coolabah Zane, a polled, 33 month old, Coolabah Sheriff son for $11,000, and averaged $7750 for four purchases in total.
Sale chairman, Duncan Geddes, Telemon Brangus, Springsure, said the outstanding results were a surprise based on the overall condition of the cattle market and the seasonal challenges.
“The quality of the bulls catalogued attracted both the stud breeders and the commercial buyers but the success of the sale is based on the continued support of central Queensland bullock producers and that’s what we’re aiming at,” he said.
