QUEENSLAND'S first stud sheep showing for year, saw more than 70 head exhibited by six studs at Tara Show on Saturday.
Muckadilla sheep producers Peter and Linda Hacker, Roselea, had a welcome start to the season claiming supreme champion exhibit for their grand champion poll Merino ram.
Mrs Hacker said the family enterprise was looking confident to put together a strong team for Queensland State Sheep Show at Goondiwindi on May 1 and 2.
At Tara Show, Roselea also picked up trophies for the champion Merino ram, junior champion Merino ram and junior champion poll merino ram.
Roselea received approximately 150mm of rain in December last year.
Mrs Hacker was buoyant after receiving another 100mm in February, filling stock dams and producing feed.
The Hacker's were assisted at Tara by daughter Pip, who has returned to the area for a gap year after completing her secondary education at St Margaret's Anglican Girls' School in Brisbane.
