A TOP price of $7000 was achieved three times at the Advance Annual Bull Sale at Roma on Saturday where 60 black and red Angus and 29 Charolais bulls went under the hammer.
The multivendor sale drew 27 registered bidders who travelled from as far afield as Rockhampton, Goondiwindi, Proserpine, Blackall, Comet and all local areas to compete for new bulls.
With a reserve price set at $3000, buyers were given an opportunity to bid in increments of $250, helping to push the average price to $3711 for the Angus offering and $4416 for the Charolais.
First to make the top money was Acacia H6 who was offered on account of the Duggan family, Acacia Angus, Killarney, and sold to the Day family, Liddesdale, via Nebo, for $7000.
Weighing 916kg, the 24-month-old bull had an EMA of 130sq.cm and a scrotal measurement of 41cm.
Also commanding the top money in the Angus offering was K5X Hunter H22, offered by Kelly Smith and Steve Hayward, K5X Angus and Red Angus, Allora.
At 940k, the 24-month-old bull recorded an EMA of 129sq.cm and a semen mobility score of 65pc.
He was purchased by Clive Hoffman, North Rockhampton for $7000.
Mr Hoffman also purchased the top price Charolais bull, Crathes Hot Shot.
Offered on account of Ros and Keith Glasson, Crathes Charolais, Greenmount, 31-month-old Hot Shot was one of the heaviest in the draft at 1095kg. A polled bull, Hot Shot boasted an EMA of 146sq.cm and a scrotal measurement of 45cm.
Mr Hoffman was among the volume buyers, taking home a total of five bulls for an average of $4850.
Other sales of note included Oak Creek Headliner H708 who was sold by Mark Merchant, Oak Creek Angus and Charolais, Inglewood, for $6750.
Headliner weighed in at a massive 1046 at just 23-months-of-age and recorded an EMA of 140sq.cm and one of the highest semen mobility counts in the draft at 85pc.
The impressive young bull was purchased by Daryl and Judy Harland, Coolibah, Roma, who chased quality throughout the sale to purchase three bulls averaging $4580.
Among the volume buyers of the sale was Bill and Kelly McLean, BKM Pastoral, Stratton, Roma, who purchased five Angus bulls for an average of $3150.
Jacana Pastoral, Goondiwindi, put together a good draft of four Angus bulls at $3000 each while Barry Caskey, Revilo, Mitchell, purchased three Angus bulls averaging $3083.
Also chasing the black Angus bulls was Andrew Dries, Bidjonbah, St George, who purchased three averaging $3166 while Sam Crowther purchased two black Angus bulls and one Red Angus bull for an average of $3833 for his Arcadia Valley property.
Eungy Pastoral Co, Milparinka, Blackall, purchased three Angus bulls at $3000/head.
