THE Leichhardt Highway is closed at the Don River, between Wowan and Banana, due to a wash out of the side track at the Don River bridges construction site.
While the recent rain has impacted the side track, the Don River bridge construction works have not experienced damage.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is focusing all project resources on completing the Don River bridges project and reopening the Leichhardt Highway as soon as possible.
At this time, the Leichhardt Highway is expected to reopen to traffic on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.
Until the Leichhardt Highway reopens, an alternate route is available via the Burnett Highway and Dawson Highway, west of Biloela.
