CLASSIFIED bulls hit $30,000 while purebred commercial counterparts made to $12,000 to post an event record average of $8048 at yesterday’s annual Cardona Canowindra Santa Gertrudis Sale, Emerald.
Vendors, the Atkinson and Wolff families, Cardona Stud, Blackwater and Cardona Stud, Emerald saw bulls sell to leading seed stock and commercial operations across the state ending in an 86 percent clearance at auction.
Market topper at $30,000 was the 1170kg, 32-month-old, Canowindra Mahogany. Mahogany, who posted an EMA measurement of 144sq cm was the Reserve Senior Champion from Beef 2015 and sold in a three quarter share and full pocession arrangement to Cyril and Denise Gauld's, Moongana Stud, Drillham.
Bulk buying support came from the Mt Enniskillen Pastoral Company who ended with six bulls. Representing the company were regular supporters, Jan Clark and John Robbins (pictured).
