There were 473 head yarded at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday.
Export cattle improved, along with feeder cattle rates. A larger number of younger cattle came to hand, selling to a stronger market than the previous week, with heifers again in demand.
Greg Armstrong, Ebenezer, sold a pen of Senepol cows with young calves at foot for $3400. Tanya Poole, Flagstone Creek, sold Charolais steers for $2370 and $1985. Daryl Herschell, Rosewood, sold pens of Brahman steers for $2210, $1960, $1880 and $1845. The Olm family, Ropeley, sold Brangus steers for $2400, $2030 and $1870. Bob Crapp, Withcott, sold a pen of Brahman heifers for $2020.
GC Pastoral, Peranga, sold Charolais feed on steers for $2055. Ian Lindenmayer, Mt Sylvia, sold Angus cows for $2040 and steer calves for $1440. George Miller, Mt Whitestone, sold Charbray cows for $2310. Metcalf Farms, Gatton, sold Santa store cows for $1790, $1740 and $1700, weaner steers for $1800, steer calves for $1430 and cows and calves for $2825.
Neville Hoger, Ropeley, sold five to six-month-old Charolais heifers for $1750. Adrian and Lynne Anstis, Marburg, sold Limousin cross steers for $1860 and heifers for $1600. Bernie and Ruth Jackwitz, Grandchester, sold a line of Charbray weaner steers for $1830. G and S McNamara, Marburg, sold lines of young Brangus weaners for $1840 and $1700.

Ron Zabel, Plainland, sold Hereford steer calves for $1530. Clinton Woods, Laidley, sold a pen of Droughtmaster heifers for $1680. Russell Long, Woolmar, sold Brahman cows and calves for $2850.
