Australia's first registered female jockey, Queenslander Pam O'Neill, has been awarded an OAM for services to racing as a jockey. Mrs O'Neill was finally licensed at the age of 34 and rode more than 400 winners over 18 years.

Trailblazing female jockey Pam O'Neill has been recognised with an Order of Australia Medal in the Australia Day honour's list for service to horse racing as a jockey.
