Celebrated outback artist Lyn Barnes will be out of her familiar Channel Country environment but certainly not out of her depth when a new exhibition of her work opens at The Wharf at Mooloolaba this month.
Called 'Bush to Beach', this will be Lyn's first exhibition on the Sunshine Coast in her 30-year career.
It's a completely new palette for the artist well known for her vivid depictions of the arid Channel Country but she has embraced the challenge of interpreting the sea and its comparison with her pictures of the bush.
"Mooloolaba has always been special to us and the opportunity to bring the images of Quilpie and the Channel Country to the beach was irresistible", Ms Barnes said.
"Painting the coastal environment and infusing that indefinable essence of pleasure that is a beach holiday is certainly a new challenge."
Lyn's work provides a visual voice for the people of the outback and connects art lovers from Queensland's south east with the lives of those who live beyond the Great Dividing Range.
'Bulloo to Beach' will preview from 19 January when the official opening night takes place upstairs at The Wharf from 6pm, and will be on display until January 29.
