After 15 years of being at the face of Burnett Livestock and Realty and three years since undertaking the $3.7 million redevelopment of the Biggenden selling complex, Lance and Stephanie Whitaker have sold their business.
The buyers, James Cochrane and Emily Rockemer, are no strangers having both worked in the business and will take over the agency and associated Burnett Livestock Exchange in early January.
Mr Cochrane has worked in the agency game since he left school and always had a desire to make his way into a livestock business.
"I did express this goal to Lance and now we have the opportunity, as we have been having this conversation since June," he said.
"It really is a great opportunity and time to be in the livestock business."
Mr Whitaker said they were both very proud of the business they had grown and were grateful for the extraordinary team of people working with them.
He said the past 18 months had been an amazing time with record prices and recent rain making for the perfect start to the season.
"It is a very good time for the new owners to take on the enterprise and enjoy a good start; and it is a very good time for us to step out the cattle sale cycle and spend some time with our family and our cattle," he said.
