NEW Elders managers Ben and Carissa Hammond have hosted an information night in Inglewood, connecting local livestock producers.
The Hammonds are the new faces in the popular Inglewood branch, backed by a wealth of experience in sheep and cattle production.
Elders finance expert John McMahon provided a rundown on the Stockco livestock finance system, which has proven extremely popular for trading sheep and cattle as well as developing breeding herds.
Elders northern wool specialist Bruce McLeish said China now bought 85 per cent of Australia's wool, consuming 60pc of the figure.
"One challenge is shipping containers, which have gone from about $4000 to $16,000 to send product to China or Europe," Mr McLeish said.
Olssons nutrition specialist Barry Knight said supplements were playing an increasing valuable role with high value livestock.
"The starting point is knowing the objectives of a supplementation program and its timing," Mr Knight said.
