Brothers, Ian and Lew Paroz, were two happy vendors at the Toogoolawah store sale last Friday, when the 24 Charbray steers they consigned sold for a top of $2300/head, for their lead pen of 12 steers.
Their second pen sold to $2180/head, leaving the brothers feeling very happy.
"That is a great result," Lew Paroz said
The brothers bought these steers as weaners out of a Toogoolawah sale in May last year, and they grew them out on irrigated pasture at their Mutapilly property.
"They were well weaned and about five to six months old when we bought them," Lew said.
He said they trade in partnership together, and still like to buying in Charbray or Charolais bred cattle, as they know they will perform on their country and they like the temperament.
Overall they have 235 hectares scattered over three properties between Laidley and Mutapilly which is all planted to improved pasture.
They carry about 200 steers and say it is getting harder and harder to buy replacements in the current market.
"We really love to buy in as cheaply as we can, as we don't know with the prices and what the market return will be in 15 months time," Lew said.
