The racecourse at Longreach hosted patrons from around Australia for its Melbourne Cup meeting, with delegates for the golden anniversary of the federal Isolated Children's Parents' Association jetting in on the day.
Although the local races didn't get underway until after Verry Elleegant upstaged Queensland favourite Incentivise in the big race down south, there were plenty of people on the course for a happy afternoon out.
Even better, they enjoyed ideal spring weather after storms swept through the day before.
