Riders from Upper Horton and Mt Isa split first in round two of the open bull ride at the Ariat Warwick Rodeo which finished on Sunday.
Troy Wilkinson has previously won in Warwick after making the long trip each year from Upper Horton, NSW.
Donovan Rutherford hails from Mt Isa and is one of the young guns on the Australian Professional Rodeo Association circuit. Six years ago, he represented Australia in the World High School Rodeo Finals.
Wilkinson and Rutherford were the only riders at the Warwick Rodeo to record scores, each with 85.
The saddle bronc ride was the most popular rough stock event at the Warwick Rodeo and it was equalled by Greg Hamilton and Jordan Iker.
Emerald rider Leanne Caban recorded a two-round time of 36.377 seconds to win the ladies' barrel race.
Kylie Hancock had her hometown crowd cheering loudly as she won the breakaway roping with a two-round time of 7.4 seconds, 2.25 seconds ahead of the second placegetter.
While Hancock has placed in rounds of the National Finals Rodeo in Warwick, this was her first average win at the Warwick Showgrounds.
The biggest winner at the timed event end of the arena was Townsville rider and current APRA all around cowboy titleholder Campbell Hodson.
He teamed with Liam Davison (Charters Towers) to win the team roping in 15.25 seconds.
Each rider was allowed to enter as part of two teams and Hodson was runner-up in combination with Emerald rider Shane Kenny.
Father-and-son combination Robert and Rope McPhee were third.
Hodson was second in steer wrestling to have three placings at the Warwick Showgrounds.
Kenny also had a third in the rope and tie. He and Hodson were the only riders with more than one open placing at a rodeo dubbed the most famous in Australia.
A feature of the Warwick Rodeo was the large crowd which watched the Saturday night program.
Prize money won at the Warwick Rodeo will go towards standings in the 2021-2022 season.
The next two APRA rodeos are in SA - Kapunda on November 20 and Streaky Bay Rodeo by the Sea on November 27.
