Women from across the state's agriculture sector were in Brisbane on Wednesday to support 2020 Queensland AgriFutures Rural Women's Award-winner Elisha Parker as she vied for the national title.
Attending the function at Pullman Brisbane King George Square were award alumni, AgForce representatives, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries staff, farmers and other businesswomen.
Due to COVID-19, the national ceremony was postponed last year. Instead, the 2020 national winner was announced on Wednesday at a special ceremony offering live coverage of the proceedings via video links.
All the 2020 state winners beamed in from across the country before the big announcement.
Broome's Cara Peek was then named the 2020 AgriFutures Rural Women's Award national winner.
The lawyer, social innovator and co-founder of Saltwater Country was awarded for her work in driving employment opportunities for First Nations people in remote Australia.
Cressida Cains, artisan cheesemaker and dairy industry advocate from NSW was announced as the award's national runner up.
