Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 1211 prime cattle, consisting of 123 bullocks, 76 heifers, 849 cows and 163 bulls.
Cattle comprised of mostly cows with a couple of main lines presenting in good slaughter condition with the balance showing the offset of the drying season.
The yarding was drawn from Normanton, Georgetown, Hughenden, Torrens Creek, as well as local and coastal areas.
Bullocks were quoted 15c dearer, heifers 15c dearer, cows were 15c dearer and bulls were 20c dearer on last sale's rates.
Prime quotes
Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 424c and averaged 396c, and those over 500kg topped at 414c to average 400c.
Heifers under 440kg sold to 416c and averaged 379c.
Cows under 400kg made 362c and averaged 280c, while cows over 400kg reached 374c, averaging 358c.
Bulls under 450kg made 386c and averaged 358c, while bulls over 450kg reached 366c to average 336c.
Sale highlights
Selling on a/c Geaney's Pty Ltd, 14 bullocks weighing 578kg, topped at 414c/kg to return $2393 per head.
Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c Hillgrove Pastoral Co that sold for 404c/kg and weighed 430kg to return $1738 per head.
The top pen of cows were sold by GA and WL Collins, for 374c/kg, weighing 600kg to return $2245 per head.
A good line of 110 cows sold on a/c of Hillgrove Pastoral Co topped at 368c/kg, weighed 581kg to return $2140, with the line averaging 355c/kg, 513kg to return $1824.
Bulls sold on a/c Hammer Grazing for 366c/kg, weighing 830kg to return $3039 per head.
