Simmentals breed records were again smashed at last Friday's annual Karragarra Simmental sale, Emerald.
Vendors Wayne and Ingrid York, Karragarra stud, Emerald, witnessed another complete clearance for their 49 bulls that topped at $28,000.
In the process, the sale posted a new breed record average of $15,878, an increase of $2931 per head over the previous record set at the inaugural sale in 2020.
The catalogue averaged 23 months of age, delivered an average live weight of 837 kilograms and an average 133 square centimetres eye muscle area.
Statistics revealed the 25 polled phenotypes posted slightly higher values than that of their dehorned counterparts, setting a $15,960 average.
Market topper at $28,000 was the 21-month-old Karragarra Queenslander.
The bull carried seven-eighth Simmental genetics and weighed 890kg, scanning 9mm and 7mm for fats and an EMA measurement of 130sq cm.
Successful purchaser was BMC Rural Services, Mt Julien.
Next best at $27,500 was the 21-month-old, 860kg Karragarra Quade Cooper (P) selling to Lawrence and Pat Hack, Rocklea, Alpha.
Adding strength to the market were CT Grazing, Cracow Station, Theodore, taking six for on average $9500.
Bill Kettle, Prairie, Capella, took five to average $15,200, topping at $22,000 for a Great Guns Regio son aged 24-months.
Tim and Lynette Olive, Apis Creek, Marlborough, selected four for on average $17,750. These topped at $20,000 for one of the yearling bulls on offer.
Top of the Apis' selections was the $20,000 yearling, Karragarra Randy by the Beef 2015 Expo Interbreed champion, Meldon Park Major Player.
A sale feature, the eight yearlings within the offering set a great average of $16,375.
Another high seller was a $26,000 son of the $160,000 Los Angeles.
At 22 -months with a weight of 902kg and 144sq cm EMA, the bull sold to Mick and Talila York, Aelnova, Wallumbilla.
Leading sire Lucrana Legend - a $32,000 purchase - had eight sons set a $16,625 average, while two sons of Meldon Park Major Player set a $18,500 average.
IM Grazing, Lochlea Station, Mt Garnet, took a trio for on average $10,000. Kevin and Kylie Preston, Eidsvold, also claimed three to average them $15,667.
HP Farming, Haldon Park, Dulacca, picked out the $25,000 Quantum Leap (23-months), while James Cochrane, Kendall Park stud, Coles Creek, selected the $22,500 Quality Ink (Lucrana Legend) (22-months).
David Jensen, Lyndale, Roma, took the $22,500 Quigley (P). Ken and Kerry McKenzie, Yaralla, Blackwater, returned taking two to average $21,750, topping at $22,500 for Quick One (Woonallee Kansas) (24-months).
Top selling red entry, Quality Red (23-months) made $22,000, selling to the Anderson family, Narrien, Clermont.
The 24-month-old poll, Quiet Riot (922 kilograms) (Woonallee BHR Tornado (P)) sold to Trevor Hamblin, Dorris Park, Emerald, for $21,000.
The Gleeson family, Fairview, Alpha, also returned taking two at $18,000 each. Another taking two at an average of $15,000 was the Warre family, St Anns Station, Charters Towers.
The Saunders family, Medway Park, Bogantungan, also purchased a pair to average them $16,000.
