It wasn't just the red carpet, glamour and crowds of eager family and friends lining the edges of Fairholme's Palm Drive that made this year's formal memorable.

It was the fact the Toowoomba-based school was able to host it.

Arrivals included a horse-drawn carriage and a bevy of assorted cars through to a shiny new prime mover.

As usual, the seniors' transformation from tartan-clad schoolgirls to graceful and elegant young women was breath-taking - with some girls almost unrecognisable.

Gowns were long, flowing, simple in design, and diverse in their colours, although blue seemed to be the favoured choice.

The evening began as it traditionally does, with a function for parents, the girls and their partners.

Following the red carpet walk-in there were family photographs, an introduction of each girl and her partner, and a gathering on the oval, lit by fairy lights and under the clear skies.

The formal part of the evening was celebrated at The Oaks Toowoomba Hotel.
