A good quality yarding of 1863 cattle at Sullivan Livestock's Gympie Cattle sale on Monday saw the market remain firm to dearer for all descriptions.
Cattle were drawn from Mt Perry, Proston, Windera, Booubyjan, Tansey, Kilkivan, Maryborough, Conondale, Maleny and all local areas.
Heavy feeder steers from D and G Devad, Widgee, sold for 488c to return $2538, $2517, $2437 and $2392. Brian and Lyn Thompson, Gundiah, sold quality Droughtmaster steers for 490c ($2324, $2361), 498 ($2197) and 490c ($2196). Greyman steers from D and K O'Rourke, Widgee, made 492c ($2319).
Quality Brangus steers from Dion Williams, Woolooga, sold for 482c ($2321). Russell and Trish McIntosh, Widgee, sold 84 quality Brangus steers for 538c ($2072). Droughtmaster weaner steers from Ross Brothers made 556c ($1586). Angus cross steers from Alan and Jan Salmon made 576c ($1624). Limousin cross steers from Fred Roberts made 572c ($1620).
John Krafft, Gunalda, sold Droughtmaster steers for 650c ($1621). Patterson Pastoral sold Droughtmaster steers for 662c ($1238). Droughtmaster steers from Will Garrett, Langshaw, made 658c ($1292). Light Brangus steers from D Pedersen, Howard, made 704c ($1101). Droughtmaster steers from Alan May, Mt Perry, sold for 668c ($1247).
Feeder heifers were limited in supply and quality, selling to a top of 480c. Weaner heifers sold to a top of 620c but generally sold from 500c to 588c.
Droughtmaster cows and calves from Alan Kachel, Langshaw, made $3250. Terry Schiefelbein sold Droughtmaster cows and calves for $3150. Other cows and calves generally sold from $1950 to $3000.
