Greenup Eidsvold Station Santa Gertrudis sale clears 100pc

Mr Greenup was 'absolutely stoked' with his record-breaking sale which not only achieved a Greenup record sale price of $85,000 but also saw a new sale average high of $13,991 with a total sellout of the catalogue.

"One of the most pleasing aspects of our sale was the strong commercial buyer support from mostly return clients who were prepared to pay good money for our bulls which were prepared on oats and ready to work," Mr Greenup said.

"The temperament of the sale draft was exceptional and their muscle expression and eye muscle area figures was something that we are very proud of."

Overall, 114 classified S and commercial Santa Gertrudis bulls were sold for a gross of $1,595,000.

Chris and Elisa Fox, Cooinda Santa Gertrudis stud, Proston, bid the $85,000 record money for Eidsvold Station Raj R568 (PS), the heaviest bull in the catalogue at 863kg and the second-best daily weight gainer at 1.13kg.

Eidsvold Station Raj R568 was a powerful hind quartered son of Rosevale Ned Kelly N28 (P) with terrific depth and width across the topline.

Mr Fox said ES Raj was the most complete package of the sale draft with a fine, tropical coat and his raw data figures were in the top one to two per cent band across all indices.

"Raj recorded a massive eye muscle area of 143 square centimetres as well as having the ideal fat cover and ticked all the old boxes for length, depth and thickness," Mr Fox said.

The first two homozygous polled bulls into the ring attracted the $50,000 equal second-best money with Eidsvold Station Robbi R254, an easy-doing, long-bodied son of Eidsvold Station Neon N864 (AI) (P) selling to Liz Allen, Forest Park Santa Gertrudis stud, Blackall.

The other was Eidsvold Station Rooster R224, a first-crop son of Greenup Nation N2 (P) with plenty of muscle and a deep hindquarter was bought by John and Kate McLoughlin, Rainbow, Rolleston.

First-time buyer Michael Mactaggart, Southwick Pty Ltd, Bears Lagoon, Moura, selected 10 quality bulls with excellent muscle and growth performance for a $10,500 average to use in his commercial Brahman/Charbray herd.

Peter Daniel, GDL, Dalby, was operating on behalf of several clients and secured Eidsvold Station Ronald R366 (P), a correct, soft, easy-doing son of Greenup Jackpot J208 (P) with a bid of $25,000 for Craig Brimblecombe, Boningar Pastoral Company, Meandarra.

Mr Daniels also had an order for the Michelmore family's Fort Cooper Grazing Company at Nebo which accounted for four top-shelf bulls for a $20,250 average and included Eidsvold Station Ronin R42 (P), a high-growth, heavily-muscled son of Eidsvold Station Ned N880 (P) for $26,000.

Other regular buyers included Tim Kirkwood, Kirkwood Family Trust, Disney, Clermont, with three bulls for a $23,000 average through Blake Munro, Elders, Toowoomba, and the Pampling family, Derbyshire Downs, Augathella, with five herd improvers for a $19,600 average via Cyril Close, TopX, Roma.
