The supply of stock increased by 168 head to 397 at Monday's Toowoomba cattle sale.
The overall quality of the yarding was generally good, and there were increased numbers of heavy grown steers and cows penned.
The additional numbers of export processor cattle attracted extra buyers into the market. The usual panel of feed and trade buyers were in attendance and operating plus a large line up of restockers.
The lift in the standard of the young cattle penned improved average prices across a number of classes. Heavy grown steers and cows also experienced a dearer trend.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 638c with a fair sample averaging 597c. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 527c to 598c with sales to a top of 608c. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 482c and made to 522c.
Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock or background made to 590c to average 540c, while yearling heifers to feed averaged from 552 to 537c and sold to 552c.
Heavy grown steers to export processors averaged 408c and made to a top of 416c.
Medium weight 3 score cows averaged 346c and sold to 348c, while heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 345c and sold to a top of 358c. Good heavy weight cows made to 386c. Heavy weight bulls made to 341c.
Best bull returned $3053 with a price of 341c. Best cows sold to 386c returning $2664. 25 oats finished cows a/c Binney Pastoral topped at 364c to average $1770.
Heavy heifers sold to 436c. Best bullocks sold to 416c returning $2476. Angus feeder steers a/c Vicki Fitch, Haden, sold to 556c.
A line of Angus weaner steers off mum a/c Ted and Mary Scrivener, Goombungee, with an average weight of 307kg to return $1874.
Lightweight Angus steers a/c N Kahler sold to 638c to return $1565. Cows and calves at foot sold to $3040.
