Morven and surrounds has had to wait for two years for horse racing to return to town in earnest, and it showed on Saturday that it's a high point on the community's social calendar.

"We got rained out last September and had a catch-up event in June this year, but this was the first Morven Cup for two years," she said. "Plus we had a live band from Toowoomba, that were very popular."
For the record, the Craig Smith-trained L'il Rodge won the Cup with jockey John Rudd on board.
