A stunning selection of bulls suitable for all operational purposes grace the pages of the 62nd annual Droughtmaster National Sale (DN Sale) catalogue.
A total of 491 bulls, including 475 registered and 15 herd bulls, from all stretches of Queensland and New South Wales have been drafted for the 2021 DN sale, taking place at CQLX, Gracemere, on September 14 and 15, from 8.30am each day.
Droughtmaster Australia (DA) national director and sale committee chair Anna Hicks said the bulls in this year's draft were selected for many different traits to suit different climates.
"Overall bulls were selected for carcase quality, sire appeal, structural soundness and adaptability to be able to cope with the harsh climates that we come up against in Australia," Ms Hicks said.
"Whether you're needing to improve structure, carcase quality, fertility or functionality, with so many herds represented in one place, you'll find what you're looking for," she said.
Ms Hicks said although there are areas still struggling with dry conditions, other regions have managed to have a good season with big bodies of feed.
"Producers in these regions that have received a break in the season are ready to restock and build herd numbers again."
These words bode well that the sale will realise a similarly impressive result as was achieved in 2020, in which 91 per cent of the offering cleared for a sterling average of $11,020, with a new sale record of $160,000 set.
DA sales and events manager Leigh Eleison said the 2021 draft will be penned for inspection at CQLX from Sunday, September 12
"This will be followed on the Monday with the traditional Drinks with Droughties meet and greet at the saleyards from 5.30pm where guests can enjoy each others company while drinking a Droughtie premium mid strength lager from Newstead Brewing Co, and eating a Droughtmaster steak burger," Ms Eleison said.
"This will be followed by the DA Next Gen Auction from 6.15pm, through which the Next Gen group will raise funds for future youth member events - you'll also be able to bid on the auction lots through the Stocklive platform. Details of these lots will be available online from September 6," she said.
The catalogue is now up on the DN Sale page on the DA website, or Stocklive, through which the sale can be livestreamed with bidding available.
A Riverina Stock Feeds representative will also be in attendance to provide producers with nutrition advice suited to their climate, conditions and cattle.
