Are you from central west Queensland and want to make sure the region is best protected against the rising threat of drought?
Applications are now open for anyone 18 years or older to join the unique Drought Resilience Leaders Development Program and receive $4000 worth of funding.
The program is being rolled out across rural and regional Australia and aims to build a national network of rural leaders to help their communities prepare for the impacts of drought.
The program is ran by The Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF), with federal and industry funding.
Last week's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report found that regional Australia will be the first to feel the impacts of climate change.
ARLF Chief Executive Matt Linnegar said that the program will prepare central west Queensland with the tools best manage climate change.
"With a focus on drought and climate resilience and adaption, the development program will be tailored to the current and future challenges of each region bringing together people who are committed to a resilient future for the region," he said.
"The program will create leadership networks committed to resilience in agriculture-dependent communities.
"The cohort for each region will be selected to be inclusive and diverse."
Mr Linnegar said the program will have a region specific focus.
The program is about them [leaders] identifying their particular challenge in their place," he said.
"Our role is to is to help them along the pathway to discovering what that is and what I can do about."
The Drought Resilience Leaders Development Program will be delivered in the Central West QLD region over eight days across November.
