Consistent quality and value for money are key to the ongoing appeal of the Australian Braford Society sponsored National Braford Sale, which will be held for the 55th time at CQLX, Gracemere on Monday September 13 from 10.30am.
Sale coordinator Russell Kenny said 23 vendors from across Queensland and New South Wales have selected 171 lots in total for the 2021 sale, comprising 143 registered bulls, 14 registered females and 14 herd bulls.
"The sale provides a great opportunity for buyers to select supreme sires from the countries top Braford stud's, all at the one location with a wide selection of genetics available," Mr Kenny said.
"Carcase value, fertility, body structure and bone, EMA's and poll gene traits, were all factored into the vendors decisions when selecting their drafts for the 2021 sale," he said.
Mr Kenny said the sale attracts buyers from Qld, NSW and South Australia.
"The sale has been running since 1966 at Gracemere. At the inaugural sale 37 registered bulls averaged $904, and 48 Herd bulls averaged $641.Last year the vendors achieved a great combined result, with all 121 bulls offered clearing to average $10,741 (up by more than $2000 on the 2019 result), to top at $42,500, while the females averaged $4000.
"The consistency of the bulls offered at the sale through the years has shone through with progeny of these bulls returning strong results for commercial breeders."
He said rain has been patchy throughout the regions in which the sale vendors are situated.
"However, Autumn produced good grass rain for most areas, with western Qld producers now in a particularly good position after a strong season."
A pre-sale meet and greet charity event will be held in conjunction with the sale from 5.30pm on Sunday, September 12 at the Gracemere Hotel.
"At the Braford Beverages meet and greet Elders will be auctioning the back page of the Annual Braford Journal in support of the Braford Youth Group, as well as numerous donated items."
Pre-sale inspections of the sale draft can be made on the Sunday afternoon and Monday morning at CQLX.
The sale catalogue can be viewed through the ABRI, Australian Braford Society, and sale agents websites. The sale action at CQLX will be livestreamed through Stocklive, with online bidding available.
CQLX has Covid Safe protocols in place. All attending will need to register at entry using the Qld sign-in mobile phone app.
