Agents Shepherdson & Boyd yarded 3150 head of cattle at Friday's weaner and store sale at Toogoolawah.
Feeders topped at $2320, weaners topped at $1900 with 12 pens selling above $1700, out of an excellent quality yarding.
Cattle were yarded from Maryborough, South Burnett, Manumbar, Kilcoy, Conondale, Dayboro, Blackbutt, Crows Nest, Bryden, Beaudesert, Boonah, Aratula and all local areas.
The market remained extremely strong across the board. Buyers from the Downs, New South Wales and Victoria competed strongly with prices reaching new highs.
The Hayden family, Bryden, sold a great line of 90 heavy feeder steers topping at $2320 to average $2245. K and S Spierling, Conondale, sold Euro feeder steers for $2190. Wendy Williams and John Freyling, Conondale, sold feeder steers to $2080. S and A Paterson, Harlin, sold 20-month-old Droughtmaster feeder steers for $2000.
Charolais Santa cross weaner steers 10 months from Blackbutt topped at $1900, $1850 and $1740. Tandora Grazing, Maryborough, sold Charbray weaner steers to $1830, $1800, $1780 and $1750, with their Limo cross weaner steers topping at $1810, $1750 and $1720. Narlee P/L, Harlin, sold weaner steers to $1810. Dallas Allery, Milford Rocks, Anduramba, sold Charbray weaners steer seven months for $1690.
Pardise Grazing, Nanango, sold Charolais weaner steers six months old for $1600, $1590 and $1500. Skye Enks of Toogoolawah sold seven-month-old Charolais steers for $1550. Grieve Brothers, Colinton, sold Charolais cross steers from five to six months old for $1620 and $1590. P and R Gordon, Mt Byron, sold quality Charolais weaner steers six to eight months for $1550.
Mount Moon Beef, Moogerah, sold Droughtmaster steers for $1890, and Angus cross weaner steers for $1730. Stark Contracting, Anduramba, sold Droughtmaster weaner steers to $1680. P and L Laycock, Toogoolawah, sold Charolais cross Droughtmaster weaner steers six months old for $1500. Manumbar Pastoral sold light Charolais weaner steers five months old for $1420.
The heifer market was on fire with strong southern interest. S and L Teske, Mount Beppo, sold heavy Santa feeder heifers for $1850. Tandora Grazing, Maryborough, sold a quality line of Charbray weaner heifers for $1700, $1690 and $1600. Mount Moon Beef, Moogerah, sold 15-month-old Droughtmaster heifers for $1860 and Angus cross heifers for $1850.
