Queensland cattle numbers totalled 6382 head last week. Southern Queensland remained the state's largest listing region, accounting for 39 per cent of the state's offering. Western Queensland also offered 33pc of the state's total offering.
The strength of the cattle market continued to shine, with 98pc of Queensland offerings sold. Interstate demand from restockers for female cattle and breeding stock was high, with 38pc of all purchases heading across the borders to NSW, VIC and SA.
Station mated cows and calves averaged $2955/hd. A line of three to 10-year-old Brangus cows and calves from Chinchilla weighing 492kg returned $3210/hd and will travel to Roma.
Representing the north to south span of the very strong breeder market, 142 SM Brahman cows with 142 CAF out of Burketown in northern Queensland sold to $2360/hd, with the cows averaging 448kg liveweight and ranging from four to 12 years of age. They will travel to Warragul, VIC.
Steers 200-280kg sold from 333c to 731c to average 604c/kg. Angus steers aged six to nine months from Yelarbon weighing 222kg returned the top price of 731c/kg liveweight and will travel to Goondiwindi.
SHEEP
Queensland sheep numbers totalled 3859 head last week. Western Queensland offered the most sheep for the state, accounting for 89pc of listings.
Buck offerings from Queensland saw a single vendor offer nine lots of Boer bucks. The top line consisted of eight bucks weighing 47.5kg aged 12 to 28 months which returned $400/hd or 842c/kg liveweight.
Merino ewe lambs sold from $187 to $252/hd to average $222/hd. A line of 410 Aug/Sep '20 drop Merino future breeder ewe lambs from Cunnamulla weighing 41.6kg returned the top price for the category at $252/hd and will travel to Dubbo, NSW.
Wether lambs sold from $120 to $161/hd to average $142/hd. Aug/Sep '20 drop woolgrower wether lambs from Ilfracombe weighing 42kg returned $160/hd and will journey to Woodleigh, SA.
SIL Merino ewes averaged $290/hd. A line of 565 SIL Poll Merino ewes aged two to six years weighing 56.6kg from Longreach returned $265/hd and will travel to Logie Brae, NSW.
