The market was dearer at Toowoomba on Monday.

Numbers experienced very little change from the previous week, at 229 head at the Toowoomba cattle sale.

The regular feed and trade buyers were in attendance and operating in a generally dearer market, pushed on by a large panel of local and interstate restockers.

A lift in the standard of the light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock improved average prices by over 40c/kg. This dearer trend also continued on to the yearling steers to feed.

All classes of yearling heifers were in demand and sold to very strong competition for the quality penned. The very small sample of cows experienced strong support from restockers as well as processors.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 617c and made to 658c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 514c to 562c with sales to 582c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 548c to average 506c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock or background made to 576c, a fair sample averaging 503c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed made to 522c to average 501c/kg. A couple of heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 480c/kg.

Heavy weight, 3 score cows to processors averaged 284c and a few to restockers made to 296c/kg. Best bulls sold for 301c/kg to return $3328.

Best heavy feeders ex Millmerran weighing 441kg sold to 548c/kg to return $2414. Angus cross steers ex Nanango sold in pen lots to 520c/kg, weighing 423kg to return $2203.

Trade weight steers a/c SJ and DJ Welke, Goombungee, weighing 307kg made 542c/kg to return $1667. Angus steers a/c Jason Ward, Highfields, weighing 286kg returned $1666.

A pen of Angus steers ex Oakey weighing 253kg sold for 658c to return $1665. Lightweight Angus steers ex Pittsworth sold to 646c/kg returning $1432.
