Are you a young person living the dream in the Queensland sheep or wool industry?
The Australian Stud Sheep Breeders association is calling on entries in this year's photo competition.
The competition is being used as an opportunity to engage young people in particular, to become more aware of agriculture in general and perhaps to open their minds to a future in agriculture.
Twelve of the best photos will be selected to go into calendars, which will be sold to raise funds to provide opportunities for people to participate in any events sponsored by the ASSBA.
ASSBA Queensland branch member Chris Rubie, Sovereign Poll Dorset stud, said the competition was a way of attracting the next generation to the sheep industry.
"Photos should depict experiences in agriculture, either at school or on farm and should provide an insight into agricultural life," Mr Rubie said.
"The photo must be the property of the entrant and must have been taken by the entrant.
"All entries must be processed and submitted through the official school email address or the teacher's school email address as provided on the entry form. "
An entry form can be retrieved from Chris via email and this entry form must be signed by a parent or guardian on behalf of the entrant and must accompany the entry.
There are two classes of entries: restricted class - students who are part of any school agricultural show team; and an open class - amateur, with $450 of prize money up for grabs.
Entries close Friday, July 9, and photos should be emailed to chris@sovereignpolldorsets.com.au.
Winners will be announced in late July, with presentations to be made at the sheep pavilion at the Ekka.
