Numbers improved by 303 head to 744 at the Warwick cattle sale.
With rain falling at the start of the sale the large panel of local and interstate restockers were very active on all classes even competing with the regular feeder and export buyers to secure replacement stock. The overall quality of the yarding was good with any variation in price only quality related.
Light weight yearling steers to restockers made 714c to average 697c/kg. A good sample of yearling steers over 200kg returned to the paddock at 628c and averaged 567c/kg. Yearling steers over 330kg to feed averaged 473c and sold to 526c, with restockers also paying 526c to average 505c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made 458c to average 431c/kg.
Yearling heifers to feed for the domestic market averaged 457c and sold to 490c, and to restockers at 540c to average 510c/kg. Yearling heifers in the 280-330kg range returned to the paddock at 548 to average 543c/kg. Bullocks to processors averaged 364c and sold to 375c/kg.
The well bred PTIC lines of the previous week were absent with a fair sample of cows to restockers averaging 301c and selling to 310c/kg. Good heavy score 4 cows to processors made 312c to average 309c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made 308c/kg. PTIC heifers sold open auction made to $2050/head, and cows and calves sold to $3020/unit.
